They can change the way we perceive things. Superheroes can inspire people of all age groups to love nature and work towards preserving the environment. Superheroes who are Environmentalists

There are a few superheroes who prioritize protecting the environment in their missions. One of the most well-known examples is Captain Planet. Captain Planet and the Planeteers was a famous TV show in the 1990s that focused on environmental issues. Captain Planet and his team of Planeteers fought against villains who were destroying the environment. Children loved this show. It aimed to educate children about environmental issues and encourage them to take action.

Another superhero is a Batman villain, Poison Ivy. She is famous for her ability to control plants. She has often used her abilities to protect the environment by fighting against corporations that harm the environment. Her life shows that superheroes can impact environment positively, even if they are not always the protagonist.

We often see Superman flying through nature, and his stories highlight the beauty and importance of nature especially when he needs sunlight to regain his powers.

Similarly, Spider-Man is often showed as swinging through the streets of New York City. He is not directly fighting for the environmental issues but his love for his city and its people is obvious and can inspire them to care about their communities. When people care about their cities, they are more likely to take action to protect them, including protecting the environment.

Just like Superman, Wonder Woman is also a superhero with great strength and abilities, the Amazon warrior gets her strength by nature and her empathy for humans and other living creatures is appreciable. In the same way, Aquaman is famous for his bond with marine environment.

How Superheroes can Inspire Environmentalism

Superheroes can inspire environmentalism in a variety of ways. Here are a few ideas:

1. Create Environmental Storylines

Writers can create beautiful storylines that focus on environmental issues. Although we are able to notice the bond of superheroes with the environment but the message should be more clear.

2. Use Superheroes as Environmental Advocates

Many celebrities talk about environment and help people in need whenever there is a disaster. They are real life superheroes but the famous ones specifically associated with DC and Marvel “Superheroes” can be spokespeople for environmental causes. They should appear in ads or campaigns that promote environmentalism and encourage people to take action. If they won’t do this then people will stop noticing the positive things and they will only see them as beauty symbols and perfect beings.

3. Create Educational Materials

Educational materials, such as comics or videos, can be created so that children learn good things and try to become a real life superhero. Superheroes can really inspire children and young people to take action.

4. Host Environmental Events

Superheroes can make appearances at environmental events, such as clean-up days or tree-planting events. Their presence can help draw attention to the event and inspire people to participate. Politicians, NGO’s and relevant organizations are doing their job already to save the environment but few encouraging words and participation by our heroes will create a greater impact and the voice will be heard by millions.

Environmentally conscious superheroes have been previously mentioned. Now, let’s discuss the greenest and most environmentally friendly superhero i.e., Spider-Man. Mostly, children like superheroes with different types of powers and abilities such as use of weapons and the way they rescue people in danger. Out of all superheroes, Spider-Man is the best hero with the most sustainable lifestyle. Aquaman, Storm and Black Widow are also the greenest superheroes. Out of all heroes, the least environmentally friendly superheroes are Batman and Iron Man. Batmobile causes pollution so it is not acceptable.
